It really depends on ones personality and the kind of companies you keep. People tend to perceive you from the way you portray yourself. Having a good moral value and selfcontrol which comes from within yourself should do. For sure no respectable, responsible person would demand otherwise, except for most people they start on false pretence so a compromise is reached more quickly because, it was never meant to be platonic in the first place. *
